Welcome to Reginald Mitchell Primary School
The school was originally called Butt Lane Primary School but was changed in 1951 as a lasting tribute to Reginald Mitchell, the designer of the Spitfire fighter aeroplane. Mitchell was born within earshot of our school and it was hoped that his immense contribution to our country would inspire future generations.
The school is located within the Staffordshire Local Authority and caters for the community of Butt Lane and surrounding areas. Children are welcomed from the ages of 3-11 and our aim is to provide the finest educational experience in a caring, safe, bright and stimulating environment.
All children are special and deserve the best possible start in life. We want the children at our school to be happy, successful and remember their years spent here with memories that will last a lifetime.
We understand that successful learning takes place when we work together with families. This makes partnerships central to our work. We have a very active Parent, Teacher and Friends Association (PTFA) who work tirelessly to support the school. Being part of our local community is very important. We feel a responsibility to help children understand the diverse community in which we live.
We have also formalised our partnership with Knypersley First School, Kingsfield First School and Oxhey First school by joining the Children First Learning Partnership Multi Academy Trust on 1st April 2019. We believe by doing so it will offer further opportunities to work collaboratively on a wide range of projects involving our staff, children, local advisory board members and parents, add capacity to our school leadership, research provision and provide financial efficiencies.
We work hard to involve parents in school life and are committed to developing links between home and school through events such as our science week, class assemblies, performances and PTFA events.
Visitors to our school are most welcome and we strongly recommend that all prospective parents come and take a look at our school in action. We hope that you enjoy looking at our website and look forward to meeting you soon.
