Our Governing Body is key role in supporting and challenging the school to help us achieve high standards of education, leadership and overall wellbeing. Working particularly close with our Executive Head – Mrs L Jukes – and Head Of School – Miss I Rourke – and other staff to provide a strategic direction and ensure accountability and to help shape the future of the school.

I have been a co-opted governor at Reginald Mitchell school since September 2017, and was previously a governor at Castle Primary school for several years in the early 1990’s. I had 2 grandchildren that attend Reginald Mitchell Primary school before moving up to secondary school.

I have lived in the the area for 48 years, having moved from Leeds when I left school. I worked at ICL/D2D/Celestica for 32 years before being made redundant and being employed by Alstom/GE in Stafford for 12 years. I am now retired, having taken redundancy at the end of 2018.

I am chair of the Patient Participation Group (PPG) at Mount Road Practice GP’s surgery.

During my working career I have been involved with emerging technology and have experience in electronics, computers, IT systems and software packages. I have experience in communicating with people at various levels, and taking on board different views, whilst ensuring that the requirement of the task is achieved with the best possible outcome. I have experience in project management, finance/budgeting, and people management.

I joined the governing body at Reginald Mitchell as a parent governor more than 25 years ago and for more than half of that I have held the position of Chair. I was also the Chair of the PFTA for several years and was involved in organising and participating in fund raising and social events. My own children attended the school which in part is the reason I wanted to be actively involved in all aspects of school life. I have worked in education myself for more than 30 years. I worked for the Special Educational Needs Service for the last 15 years of which has given me the opportunity to work with children, parents and staff in many Staffordshire schools.  I am passionate and committed to ensure that all children have access to the highest quality of academic and pastoral education and care.

Abigail is an experienced Headteacher, a National Leader of Education and an Ofsted Inspector.  Since she became Headteacher in 2005, she has led all of her schools from an Ofsted category of RI to Good, with two of those schools becoming Outstanding (most recent in March 2017- Knypersley First School).  She has been an Executive Headteacher providing system leadership to many other schools and is currently the Executive Head of Reginald Mitchell Primary and CEO of the Children First Learning Partnership Multi Academy Trust. She has a MSc in School Effectiveness and has recently achieved her National Qualification of Executive Leadership.

Robert is an experienced senior leader in education with both strategic and operational expertise in financial management, Human Resources and facilities management along with comprehensive knowledge of Governance and safeguarding processes in schools. He has worked at neighbouring schools for the last fourteen years and is currently providing extensive school business management leadership across all age ranges from nursery to post-16 education. He is recognised professionally by the Institute of Administrative Management and the Institute of Workplace and Facilities Management. Outside of work Robert has previously served as a school governor and volunteered as a member of the special constabulary with Staffordshire Police for over 11years. Robert is an active member of St Thomas’ Church in Kidsgrove, having lived or worked in the community all his life.

I am thrilled to have been appointed as a parent governor and I am passionate and committed to support the school and the trust in any way that I can.

My background is in education and I have been a teacher for over 14 years working in different schools in the local area. Prior to this I have worked for many years as a children’s swimming teacher. I am passionate about supporting the development of children and watching them grow in confidence in all areas of school life and beyond.

I have two young children who attend Reginald Mitchell and it has been amazing to see their confidence grow and to see them progress academically. I would love the chance to give back to the school and I am eager to support the school and to help to continue its success.

Pen portrait: I have three children, two who currently attend Reginald Mitchell and one who attends the local high school. I am passionate about helping children to grow and become the best versions of themselves. I am a member of the leadership team at a local primary school and have the responsibility for developing English and the Christian distinctiveness within it. From the work that I do in my role, I have a good understanding of policy development, data analysis and budgeting.  Over the last twenty years, I have worked with children throughout the primary age and have assisted with the transition into high school. In my position of parent governor, I bring a wealth of knowledge of children’s development both from a school and a parent viewpoint.

I have 25 years of teaching experience and during this time I have worked at Springhead Primary School, Knypersley First School and The Reginald Mitchell Primary school.  I have had many roles and responsibilities during my teaching career. I am currently the Year 2 teacher and a member of the school leadership team and have the responsibility for leading and developing English and Humanities (Geography & History) throughout the school. As a teacher within the school and senior leader I am vey aware of the priorities and vision of the school, as well as ensuring that all the children within our care achieve their full potential.
